By bike to the Sea, a bicycle tour from Bucharest till the sea, has become an event CO2 free thanks to Carbon Expert and Allcot.
This event, which has been held for 10 years, gathered 450 amateur cyclists who rode a distance of 305 kilometers, divided into Saturday and Sunday (23-24 April).
The emissions of this event came from trucks for food and bikes, buses, and cars on the way back to Bucharest and from the accommodation of the cyclists in an hotel for one night They have been offset with a project in La Providencia, Argentina. It is a Fuel-Switching Project from Fossil Fuels to Biomass . The project activity has the capacity to reduce approx. 417,000 tons of CO2 equivalent emissions over a 10-year time frame.
Beach riders age were from 12 to 77 years. Dean of age was Marin Ash, an amateur cyclist traveling each year about 20,000 kilometers. Many participants were from Bucharest, but there were groups that come from Craiova, Brasov, Cluj or Constanta.
“The hardest day of the race was the second, with hills and wind Dobrogea binding face. But that made it even more pleasant arrival and greater satisfaction. It was not an easy thing, but our mission was to show that there was no impossible for an ordinary man, “said Lucian Manduta, the founder of the event and a very known journalist in Rumania.
