February 2012 -- econ industries and SAKAB are currently developing a new process for the recovery of calcium fluoride from filter cakes accrued during stainless steel processing. To recover the valuable calcium fluoride, the filter cake needs to be dried, which is difficult due to the properties of the filter cake. Laboratory tests carried out in 2012 demonstrate that the VacuDry® technology is the ideal choice for this challenging application. The first plant of this type is currently in the design phase, with the commissioning scheduled for 2014.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency today ordered Molycorp Minerals, LLC, to pay a $27,300 penalty for improper management of hazardous waste at its San Bernardino County mine and mineral processing facility. Successful commissioning with 2 t/h oily wastes
The VacuDry plant delivered in 2009 to England has been tested during the last months with various different input wastes. Also filter cakes coming from centrifugation units in refineries with solid contents around 40% have been operated to the required capacity of 2 t/h. Lab analysis has shown that the oil recycled from the waste has properties similar to light fuel oil while after treatment the remaining mineral solids have TPH contents below 1%.
