February 2012 -- econ industries and SAKAB are currently developing a new process for the recovery of calcium fluoride from filter cakes accrued during stainless steel processing. To recover the valuable calcium fluoride, the filter cake needs to be dried, which is difficult due to the properties of the filter cake. Laboratory tests carried out in 2012 demonstrate that the VacuDry® technology is the ideal choice for this challenging application. The first plant of this type is currently in the design phase, with the commissioning scheduled for 2014.

Continuous-Indexing Thin-Cake Vacuum Belt Filters Improve Process Operations by Replacing Conventional Vacuum Filters
INTRODUCTIONThe chemical industry faces unique challenges to increase process efficiencies and yields while improving the safe handling of solids and slurries. To meel these requirements, with less operator interaction, the industry`s need for new technologies has expanded. This article discusses the use of thin-cake Continuous-Indexing Vacuum Bell Fillers as alternatives to manual vacuum nulsche and conventional vacuum pan equipment. This technology Is described as well as the selection process. The article...
Framework for Selecting Thin-Cake Candle Filter Technology for Removing Solid Contaminant Fines from Recirculating Acid Gas Scrubbing Fluid Streams
ABSTRACTThe need for filtration systems in scrubbing units has been well documented. Filtration provides the benefits of reduced hot spots in the regenerator reboiler. reduced heal exchanger fouling and reduction of foaming in the absorbers. This paper discusses thin-cake candle filter technology that is used to remove trace amounts of solid contaminant fines from the recirculating fluid stream. These contaminants originate from various sources and are generally less than 3-5 microns in size, which makes their...
Replacing Filter Presses and Manual Plate Filters for Removing Trace Solids from Chemical Slurries with Thin-Cake Candle Filter Technology
Abstract: The BHS technologies of Vertical Candle Filters provide improved product quality with more efficient operations compared with filter presses and manual plate filters. Fully automatic operations provide for complete containment of the solids and liquids for reduced maintenance costs and overall project savings. IntroductionAs ihe chemical industry has changed and grown since the mid-1980*s, there are increasing concerns about the safe handling of solids and slurries. To meet these requirements, with...
Conditioning mixer for filter cake
AVA recently delivered a continuous conditioning mixer for filter cake and additives. The final installation place is a mine in Turkey. The task is the production of a mining back fill material, which will be pumped with a solid pump inside the mine. The main product is an extracted filter cake, a residue product from the gold mine which should be mixed with cement and water. The whole machine is executed in a very robust, heavy duty design as the environmental conditions are harsh and product very abrasive....
Moyno 2000 HS System Technology Targets Dewatered Sludge Cake
The Moyno 2000 HS system is a significant technology advancement for the wastewater treatment industry. It can pump filter cake further distances with higher volumetric efficiencies than any other progressing cavity pump. Its twin-screw feeder supplies a constant, pressurized feed rate to the pump resulting in a 100 percent pump cavity fill rate. The Moyno 2000 HS System features an integral hopper with a twin-screw auger feeder and specially designed progressing cavity pump that efficiently handles dewatered...
