Carbon Neutral launches 2012 ‘Turn your car’s emissions into Trees’ campaign
The annual campaign aims to encourage Australia’s drivers to offset their vehicle emissions through a tax deductible donation to plant trees in rural Australia.
The average vehicle produces about 4 tonnes of CO2 emissions during a year and contributes to air pollution.
Trees planted through the campaign will not only absorb greenhouse gases but will also help to revegetate and protect Australia’s natural landscape.
“It is essential that we all take responsibility for our own personal carbon footprint and work to reduce and offset our use of fossil fuels. We set up this campaign to promote responsible driving and to make it easy for drivers to help protect our environment.”
“Transport accounts for a significant portion of most of our personal CO2 emissions. Our aim is for all Australian drivers to make their journeys effectively carbon neutral. We’ve calculated the average emissions for small, medium and large vehicles and created options to offset these vehicles through tree planting on our website. This year we hope to involve more drivers than ever,” comments Ray Wilson, CEO Carbon Neutral.
Carbon Neutral leads biodiverse conservation plantings, using carefully selected native species to create habitats that are more resilient to Australia’s climate and support natural ecosystems and wildlife.
To support the campaign drivers can go online and make a tax deductible donation at: http://www.carbonneutral.com.au/mv.html
All supporters will receive a tax receipt and a bumper sticker for their vehicle to show their good work for the environment.
