Carillion M40 Project case study
Client: Carillion M40 Project

Date: Ongoing
Sector: General
About the Project:
Carillion operate the management of the entire M40 motorway system in respect of traffic management, waste management, litter pick and other specialist services to ensure that the motorway operates safety and efficiently.
Based at 3 depots along the length of the motorway, operatives clear the carriageways of all general waste, as well as waste generated from RTAs, shredded tyres and other traffic related waste.
This is then transported back to the various yards for collection and disposal.
Project Challenges:
GPT took over the management of the project in June 2011 and were asked to provide a full waste management service for the network.
Site visits were undertaken and proposals made for an improved service, including a reduction in the number of containers on sites, as well as the way the waste is managed.
On occasions, due to the nature and urgency of the service provision, it is often necessary to provide Roll On / Off containers onto the carriageway itself at very short notice following major RTAs, something that GPT has always accomplished in order to keep the motorway operating smoothly.

- 40yrd Roll on Off Containers for GMW
- 40yrd Roll on Off Containers for Metal Waste
- 20yrds Roll on Containers for Inerts
