Cerex Introduces the New AirSentry FTIR Open Path Analyzer
Cerex Monitoring Solutions is pleased to announce the release of the third generation model AirSentry FTIR multi-gas open path FTIR analyzer. The decision was made to fully redesign the analyzer to take full advantage of advances in hardware and software technology. The third generation design represents a full reconfiguration of the instrument. Goals were to reduce initial and operating costs and improve performance while retaining the valuable features and twenty year service life of the previous model AirSentry FTIR.
Among the Improvements in the New AirSentry FTIR:
- Improved AirSentry FTIR Interferometer: Retaining the field proven corner cube design, the AirSentry FTIR interferometer has been miniaturized. It now utilizes a solid state diode laser which operates at lower temperature and improves reliability and power consumption.
- Improved Cryocooler Life-Cycle – 20,000 Hour MTTF: Cryocooling the AirSentry FTIR MCT detector allows the wide band sensitivity performance of a liquid nitrogen cooled detector without the expenses and demands associated with handling liquid nitrogen or maintaining auto-fill hardware. The new model’s cryocooler has a 20,000 hour MTTF, double that of the previous generation. It also carries a 14 month warranty. The new cryocooler reduces regular maintenance costs by half without compromising performance.
- Integrated Computer as Standard: Previous models used an external computer for gas analysis and data acquisition. The new model utilizes a fully integrated computer. Remote access to the operating system, configuration settings and data output are simplified.
- Instrument Air Conditioner as Standard: Standard thermo-electric air conditioning improves the ambient temperature operating range of the new AirSentry FTIR as well as the longevity of the electronics. Previous models were restricted to an upper temperature limit of 35°C. The new design will operate in ambient temperatures up to 55°C.
- Reduced Enclosure Size: To improve portability and reduce initial cost the AirSentry FTIR now uses a NEMA enclosure. It is smaller, lighter and more portable than the previous machined enclosure. Weight and cost reductions allow the installation of instrument air conditioning without increasing weight and cost over the previous model. The new model weighs 135lbs with air conditioning. The previous model weighed 150lbs without air conditioning.
- Hazardous Location Installation: The new model AirSentry FTIR is available with integrated z-purge and classified area cooling to allow operation in Class 1, Division 2, Groups A-D and ATEX hazardous zone operation.
- Streamlined, Feature Rich CMS Operating Software: CMS software has been streamlined to improve computational speed in gas analysis routines. The graphical user interface has also been improved to simplify configuration tasks. The latest version includes many upgrades:
- 1. One Button Configuration Recovery
- 2. Alarm Configuration Inherited From Compound Library Gases
- 3. User Selectable Data File Format
- 4. Serial and Ethernet Modbus Support
- Data Processor Software Improvements: Data Processor has been significantly expanded to include several powerful features.
- 1. Synthetic Background Generator
- 2. Insitu Reference File Generator
- 3. Unknown Compound Analysis
- 4. Spectrum Visualizer
With second generation AirSentry FTIR analyzers operating in the field after twenty years, many features that facilitate long term value were retained in the new model.
Features Retained in the New AirSentry FTIR:
- Non-Hygroscopic Optics: Offer the best available resistance to corrosion and are immune to water vapor damage.
- Quick Mount Telescope: The telescope is removable with one screw for fast setup and breakdown. For temporary installations the analyzer can be set up and collecting data in minutes.
- Conversion from Open Path to Point Analyzer: The telescope may be removed and a sample cell attached to allow point or process monitoring.
- Full Compliance with USEPA TO-16 Regulatory Open Path FTIR Air Monitoring: USEPA TO-16 Compendium of Methods for the Determination of Toxic Organic Compounds in Ambient Air
- Direct Integration with Meteorological Sensors: The AirSentry FTIR is still available for order with hardware necessary for integrated meteorological and external analyzer data acquisition.
- Open Format Gas Compound Library: CMS software retains simplicity in adding or removing gas compounds from the detection library. To add or remove, simply copy or cut the appropriate reference file into or from the integrated computer Library file folder. Hundreds of compounds are detectable.
- Raw Spectral File Retention: Like all Cerex analyzers, raw data files are always retained. The analyzer is not limited to only producing gas concentration values, and the raw data may be processed at any time after collection for third party verification and quality assurance for legal defensibly data.
