The on-line COD analyzer QuickCODultra by LAR Process Analysers AG determines the chemical oxygen demand (COD) in water. Using a robotic, horizontally and vertically moving injection needle, the sample is transported to the furnace. Due to the robust needle samples with a high particle density will be easily injected into the furnace. Thus, operators do not need any sample preparation such as filtration, and the sample will be analyzed in its entirety. The COD analyzer works with the high temperature combustion method at 1200 °C. At this temperature, the complete oxidation of all compounds is guaranteed. Due to the high oxidation potential of the 1200 °C no oxidation-promoting catalysts or hazardous chemicals are needed. As a result, the costs of ownership are minimized. Moreover, the measurement results are free of chloride interferences. The amount of oxygen needed is detected by an oxygen detector. The determination of the chemical oxygen demand takes place in less than 2 minutes.
Using the multi-stream option LAR's QuickCODultra measures up to 6 sample streams in one unit. The COD analyzer is optimally suitable for the detection of production losses in chemical and food industries as well as for control of waste water treatment plants.
