ECOBOND® for homeowners is available now at The Home Depot

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- MT2 (, based in Arvada, Colo., announces that its ECOBOND® LBP line of products, which have been verified to reduce the hazards of lead paint contamination in structures, soils, and waste, are available at

Available for government and commercial use for six years, ECOBOND has such potential to improve quality of life by helping reduce lead hazards in housing that MT2 this year developed a residential line of the ECOBOND product to meet potential consumer demand.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ( ), lead is a toxic and poisonous metal that was used for many years in products found in and around our homes. Lead also can be emitted into the air from industrial sources, and leaded gasoline, and lead can enter drinking water from plumbing materials.

ECOBOND (, which meets testing standards for reducing lead hazards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, is now in mass production at MT2’s Colorado plants in anticipation of filling orders for The Home Depot and from consumers buying from MT2’s website.

Lead-based paint was banned in the U.S. in 1978. A U.S. Housing and Urban Development Survey of Lead and Allergens in Housing estimated that 38 million permanently occupied housing units (40% of all housing units) in the United States contain some lead-based paint that was applied before the residential use of lead-based paint was banned in 1978.

“ECOBOND takes the hazards out of lead based paint. This is really the culmination of years of scientific research and development, true teamwork and an unfailing devotion to our vision,” said James M. Barthel President and CEO of MT2. “We’ve always wanted to make the world a better place, and now we have a huge opportunity to do just that.”

MT2 is widely recognized as the nation’s leading provider of products and services for lead contamination, and environmental cleanup. MT2 has provided lead remediation services for more than 500 unique locations nationwide, primarily focusing on lead paint, firing range lead cleanup and soil remediation.
