Commercialistation of partnership
Commerialisation partnership between Ecotech and University of Wollongong
The exciting commercialisation partnership between Ecotech, an Australian-based environmental monitoring company and the University of Wollongong has been chosen as a case study of Business Innovation in the 2012 edition of the Australian Innovation System Report.
The Australian Innovation System Report is an annual series of reports, starting in 2010, on the performance of Australia's national innovation system.
The Report is a commitment by the Australian Government in Powering Ideas: An Innovation Agenda for the 21st Century to produce an annual report on innovation.
The project comes out of the development of a new instrument by the School of Chemistry's Centre for Atmospheric Chemistry in 2000, which provides a high precision, real-time analysis of all principal greenhouse gases, a capability unmatched by its competitors.
The UOW-Ecotech partnership, signed in December 2011, has already led to export sales of Australian-made, research-grade greenhouse gas analysers to customers in North America, Europe and China. Worldwide, there is an increasing need for governments to measure greenhouse gases in their environments. 'Policy decisions based on climate change research demand precise, highly accurate and repeatable data for all greenhouse gases, not just CO2,' said Professor David Griffith, an inventor of the technology.
Congratulations to Professor Griffith and his team in achieving this well-deserved recognition and to Gavin Dixon, Innovation and Commercial Research, for his dedication and hard work in realising this deal.
