NORCROSS, GA, MAY 6, 2010 California raises attention to fish oil supplement manufacturers distributing products containing illegal levels of the toxic chemical Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs).

Environmental activists conducted an experiment on 10 different fish oil supplements that shockingly all contained PCBs. The California law defines 90 nanograms as the legal daily exposure to this carcinogen and three out of the 10 supplements tested revealed significantly higher levels.

Dynamic Adsorbents, Inc. (DAI) a Norcross, Ga. purveyor of purification products for the pharmaceutical industry, has launched a product specifically designed to remove PCBs from substances like fish oil supplements.

PCBs were banned in the 1970s after being linked to serious health complications including cancer and birth defects. The chemical has also been noted to cause disruption to the endocrine, reproduction, immune and nervous systems.

“Consumers who want the health benefits of fish oil shouldn’t also have to take the health risks of an extremely toxic man-made chemical,” attorney David Roe said in a release.

Despite the ban placed on PCBs over 30 years ago, the chemical still infiltrates our waterways, soil and air due to its resiliency.

DAI manufactures Alumina C, a specially designed activated alumina product C that is chemically and physically modified with highly favorable properties for the collection and isolation of PCBs.

The contaminated fish oil commonly used for health promotion can be passed through columns packed with Alumina C that immediately adsorb the PCBs from the nutrient rich substance on contact. The captured PCBs remain in the column packed with alumina and can be disposed of using appropriate destruction technology.

“Alumina C is just one example of Dynamic’s unique ability to produce the highest

quality, consistency and variety of alumina,” said Mark Moskovitz, President and Chief Scientist. “By controlling alumina’s particle and pore size, and producing the highest quality and rate of consistency, DAI is the only company able to provide the best solutions possible for many cleanup and separation applications.”

DAI is excited to produce the highest quality activated alumina in its industry that is manufactured in its world-class laboratory. Only DAIs activated alumina boasts the highest quality (according to independent tests), lot-to-lot consistency, and customizing features that will most cost-effectively deal with a variety of environmental cleanup and pharmaceutical purification issues.

“Our mission has always been and will continue to be providing the best solutions to clients, and the best solutions possible to deal with some of the most pressing issues

affecting the health and safety of people all over the world,” said Moskovitz.
