Dassault Rolls Out Falcon 5X Business Jet Featuring Eaton`s Advanced Hydraulic Power-Generation System
Eaton celebrates milestone as key member of Falcon 5X development team
PARIS -- On June 2, Dassault Aviation hosted a rollout ceremony for the Dassault Falcon 5X business jet at its Bordeaux-Mérignac final assembly facility in France. Power management company Eaton designed an advanced power-generation system for the new business jet that integrates hydraulic power packs to provide a backup localized source of hydraulic power — an Eaton innovation that simplifies hydraulic system architecture while increasing safety, reliability and weight-savings.
'Eaton's contributions to the Falcon 5X development program reinforce our position as a technology leader for aerospace,' said Mike Beck, vice president and general manager, Fuel and Motion Controls Division, Eaton’s Aerospace Group. 'Our new hydraulic system architecture optimizes reliability and efficiency while supporting the industry's shift toward more electrical aircraft. We congratulate Dassault for achieving this milestone and are honored to be a part of the Falcon 5X team.'
After the contract award in 2010, Eaton teamed with Dassault to design, develop and integrate the hydraulic power-generation system and controller logic. The power-generation system also incorporates Eaton's engine-driven pumps, an electric motorpump, bootstrap reservoirs, hydraulic maintenance-free accumulators, Teflon hoses, high-pressure quick-disconnect couplings, pneumatic couplings and metallic seals.
The hydraulic power-generation system supplies hydraulic power to actuators that operate primary and secondary flight controls and utility systems, including landing gear and doors, nose wheel steering, brakes and the thrust reverser. Components are equipped with remote-monitoring technology to keep flight and maintenance crews aware of system conditions during aircraft operation.
In the aerospace industry, Eaton is a leading supplier of products and technologies for hydraulic systems, fuel and inerting systems, motion control and engine solutions. Eaton's portfolio includes hydraulic engine-driven and electro-hydraulic pumps, control and storage equipment, distribution components and motors; engine and airframe fuel pumps, fuel-control valves, aerial- and ground-fueling equipment, lightning protection devices, and fuel-gauging and fuel-inerting systems; electrical generators, secondary flight-control actuators, door and utility actuators, and nose wheel steering and actuation-control systems; air-distribution products, pressure sensors, static and dynamic seals, and fluid-health monitoring products and systems; and aftermarket service and support.
