Entsorga-Enteco 2006: Capabilities of Waste Disposal Industry and Environmental Technology on Display
Environmental protection as a promising export: International Trade Fair for Waste Management and Environmental Technology reveals potential for sales and growth
BDE sees good growth opportunities for waste disposal and water sector
The new concept of Entsorga-Enteco 2006 - International Trade Fair for Waste Management and Environmental Technology, which takes place in Cologne from the 24th to the 27th of October 2006, responds quite clearly to the changed markets of the waste disposal industry. In particular, the greater focus on the segment 'environmental technology' complements the whole range of exhibited products, in keeping with market conditions, and thereby creates an ideal trade fair environment for industry visitors from around the world. The fair, which is organized by the Federal Association of the German Waste Disposal Industry (BDE) in conjunction with Koelnmesse, provides an international platform for exhibitors from all environmental sectors. The conceptual sponsor of the trade fair is the German Engineering Federation VDMA.
The BDE expects Entsorga-Enteco to be the world's flagship trade fair for the waste disposal and water industry in 2006. 'That's a reflection of the impressive growth the sectors have undergone,' said BDE Chief Executive Dr. Stephan Harmening. 'The German waste disposal and water industry is now the world leader in terms of its expertise and economic efficiency. The experience and the knowledge that the sectors have acquired in waste collection, sorting, recycling and disposal and in water supply and disposal will stand them in good stead in the European markets now opening up. Entsorga-Enteco will be the international flagship fair for our industry in 2006. The registration figures have so far been outstanding. We'll have a great fair. I'm already looking forward to it,' says Harmening.
With the implementation of Germany's Technical Directive on Municipal Waste (TASi) by mid-2005, the German waste industry reached a milestone. Because of that deadline, the equipment and plant constructors were all booked up with orders, according to the 'Waste and Recycling Technology' section of the VDMA. 'We expect this high level of orders to continue into next year. Then, however, it can be expected that orders from within Germany will subside. The sector sees an expansion of exports as an opportunity to keep on growing. We see Entsorga-Enteco 2006 as an ideal platform for significantly strengthening the export area,' said Dr. Markus Heering of the trade group 'Thermal Process and Waste Technology' in the VDMA.
'The sector feels well equipped for this task. There is extensive experience with a broad variety of technologies, and the companies have plenty of experience in exports,' Heering adds. Currently, over 60 per cent of the turnover is due to exports. The companies offer state-of-the-art technology that subscribes to the idea of efficient waste utilization and life-cycle management. Deploying modern waste and recycling technology makes an important contribution to the conservation of natural resources. Waste is made use of or recycled into high-quality secondary raw materials so that natural raw materials can be conserved. The energetic utilization of waste also makes an important contribution to climate protection.
The 'Air Pollution Control' section in the trade association 'General Air Technology' in the VDMA welcomes the extension of the Entsorga fair, which will now be presented as Entsorga-Enteco in 2006 and will thus place a new emphasis on environmental protection in the fields of air, water and waste. 'For the industry experts, the synergies that result from having both air pollution control and waste management at the fair are obvious. But above and beyond the importance of air technology for the waste disposal and recycling industry, Entsorga-Enteco will present a broadened yet still clearly defined profile as it offers technological solutions for the various requirements that air pollution control systems are expected to meet in a great variety of industrial processes,' said Dr. Thomas Schräder, managing director of the trade association 'General Air Technology' in the VDMA. The most important customer sector for German air pollution control technology is the metal production and metalworking industry (30 per cent). Because of the persistently high raw materials prices, high-temperature scrap recycling offers an outstanding volume of business here. The second most important target sector comprises waste incineration and the waste management and energy industries (24 per cent), followed by the chemicals, pharmaceuticals and food industries (17 per cent).
'We believe the organizers will be able to consolidate the fair into a lively and international gathering for a diverse array of environmental protection concepts,' Schräder adds.
Waste treatment in Germany - a standard for Europe?
From the point of view of the BDE, the fair revolves around highlighting the capabilities of the German waste disposal industry and its suppliers of environmental protection technologies. 'Entsorga-Enteco 2006 offers an outstanding opportunity to place the export commodity 'environmental protection' squarely before an international audience of industry specialists,' said Harmening. Furthermore, the fair will provide clear answers to the question to what extent the waste treatment practiced in Germany can serve as a model for Europe. Today, modern German plant construction techniques already make an important contribution to national and international climate protection and air pollution control.
Recovering treasures from waste
'Wastes turn into resources.' Illustrating this and laying out the economic and environmental opportunities for the market players involved is another central topic of the fair. It works toward the goal of developing a sustainable, global system of commercial and industrial waste management.
Conservation of global water resources
Because of the increasing worldwide consumption, the protection of global water resources is one of the top themes of the fair. Only a modern water supply industry can promote conservation of the precious commodity 'water.' Entsorga-Enteco 2006 will present technologies and services that form the basis of a high-quality, controlled water supply not just in Germany but especially in the European and intercontinental markets also.
New instruments of the capital markets
Entsorga-Enteco 2006 will also point out what new financing instruments are available on the capital market for the expansion and acquisition of companies. Under the motto, 'New Scope for the Transfer of Technologies and Product Solutions,' the opportunities and possibilities for investments using both borrowed and equity capital will be presented.
Supporting program to feature leading experts
In addition, the fair will have a supporting program that will become a platform for dialogue concerning all the products segments of Entsorga-Enteco 2006. The product segments are as follows: Waste Management & Recycling, Water & Liquid Water, Incineration & Renewable Energy, Local Authority & Environmental Services, Technology & Logistics, Air Quality Control & Emissions Protection, Health and Safety at Work & Noise Protection, and Research & Organisation. The BDE and the VDMA will once again act as partners of Koelnmesse in the implementation of the sessions, presentations and workshops.
The entire spectrum of visitors
Entsorga-Enteco 2006 will present a complete overview of the entire spectrum of innovative products and services to buyers, environmental officers, engineers and technologists from industry and trade; representatives from the fields of science, research and education; decision-makers from public agencies, municipalities and public administration; political representatives; and experts from non-governmental organizations.
