Enviance, Inc., a global provider of Environmental ERP solutions that measure, manage, report and reduce environmental and regulatory risks, announced today that Northeast Utilities has selected Enviance’s cloud-based environmental management software to measure and report data on all compliance areas including GHG inventory and air emissions, waste, water usage, PCB tagging and tracking, and lab sampling data. Northeast Utilities operates New England’s largest energy delivery system serving more than two million electric and natural gas customers in Connecticut, western Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The company selected Enviance to identify and address environmental impacts from services and operations across 15 facilities and to enhance its compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements.

“Having a robust environmental management system is a key operational component of Northeast Utilities’ sustainable business model,” said Sri Madhusudhan, director of environment management at Northeast Utilities. “Enviance’s cloud-based Environmental ERP system will allow us to centralize our compliance goals to better anticipate and meet growing environmental performance expectations, mitigate risks and introduce new efficiencies into our business.”

Northeast Utilities System selected Enviance for its ability to centrally manage a broad range of compliance activities with a minimal burden on IT resources. Now more than 30 percent of U.S. utilities have deployed Enviance’s Environmental ERP system, including Georgia Power, Southern Edison, Entergy, American Electric Power, Pacific Gas and Electric, and First Energy.

“Northeast Utilities’ transition to a cloud-based environmental ERP system shows its understanding of the complex compliance requirements facing the utility sector and the power of cloud-based compliance management automation to meet these challenges cost-effectively,” said Lawrence Goldenhersh, president and CEO of Enviance.
