Melbourne, New York -- Fluence Corporation Limited (ASX: FLC) is pleased to announce that it has secured a contract for the first Aspiral™ system in South Africa, which includes its proprietary MABR wastewater treatment technology. This Smart Products Solution will be a pilot project installed by local partner MEB and Fluence at one of eThekwini Wastewater Treatment Plants in Kwazulu-Natal to process wastewater from effluent to various levels of usage – ultimately allowing for reuse to potable water levels.

With a total contract value of approximately US$250,000, the solution will include an Aspiral™ S1 unit, ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis, as well as an optional AOP system and remote supervision. This project is a prime example of Fluence’s and MEB’s capabilities to present turnkey solutions, which help close the water cycle by treating wastewater to potable water levels for consumption, while at the same time conforming to a very high level of environmental regulatory compliance at a very low cost of ownership. The first phase (MABR) is expected to be delivered within 8 weeks and installed in Q3 2020.

Commenting on this order, Fluence Managing Director & CEO Henry Charrabé said: “Our local and long-term partner MEB, has signed an agreement for a pilot project with eThekwini where the Aspiral™ system can offer solutions to water-scarce South Africa, alleviating some of the strains on the precious and limited resource in the country. This pilot project will be a valuable reference for MEB to demonstrate the benefits of MABR wastewater technology to other potential customers in South Africa. We look forward to further exploring additional opportunities with MEB while expanding our footprint in South Africa as we grow in the region.”
