FPI Contributes to the Regulation of River Outfalls in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area with Remarkable Results
2023/03/30 -- On September 24, 2022, a report related to the demonstration of the effectiveness of river outfall regulation in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area was aired on CCTV's Morning News. The report mentioned that 30 automatic water quality monitoring stations had been deployed, and 724 water environment problems had been disposed of as of September 2022, with a disposal rate of 99.3%. The Ministry of Ecology and Environment in China recognized the project results.
Chongqing is located in southwestern China, in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, with an area of 82,400 square kilometers and a resident population of 32 million. Chongqing is one of the four municipalities directly under the Central Government of China, an important advanced manufacturing center in China, a financial center in the west, and an international integrated transportation hub city in the west, with a gross regional product of 4218.83 billion USD in 2022.
As a city located in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, China's mother river, Chongqing, has the mission of protecting the important ecological barrier in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. River outfall regulation has always been an important direction to protect the water quality of the upper Yangtze River from pollution. To effectively monitor water quality pollution in river outfalls, the government of Chongqing's Liangjiang New District has developed elaborate water quality monitoring and management measures. The five major tasks of 'checking, measuring, tracing, treating and managing' the river outfalls are clearly defined, 'horizontal to the end, vertical to the edge' is implemented, the daily management of the outfalls is refined, long-term and institutionalized, and a map of the river outfalls is drawn through the 'product + information platform' to realize the intelligent and digital supervision of the outfalls.
Among the 30 automatic water quality monitoring stations deployed in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, 20 are from FPI's self-developed nine-parameter water quality automatic monitoring stations. The purpose of deploying these monitoring stations is to continuously monitor the Yangtze River, Jialing River basin cross-sections, and the river inlets and to help Chongqing Liangjiang New Area continuously monitor and manage the water quality pollutants in the river inlets.

The automatic water quality monitoring station is rich in monitoring factors, in addition to the nine conventional factors of surface water real-time monitoring, but also according to the needs of the expansion of the configuration of chlorophyll, algae density, COD, copper, chromium, lead and more than ten kinds of factors, can meet the water quality monitoring needs of various water bodies.
The station has a high degree of integration, occupies a small area, has a short infrastructure cycle, has a flexible location of monitoring points, and can be relocated.

Equipped with the quality control instrument, it can realize the functions of standard instrument verification, parallel sample test, spiked recovery test, etc., to ensure the validity and accuracy of data.

The station house system is highly reliable and safe with a multi-level lightning protection design, multi-dimensional dynamic loop real-time monitoring, and multiple security equipment linkage.
In addition to helping Chongqing Liangjiang New Area with the river discharge water quality monitoring project, FPI's water quality monitoring equipments are widely installed around the country.
