Golden opportunity for CTG’s Sensor Systems at Oceans 2007

At Oceans 2007 Vancouver (29 September to 4 October 2007 Vancouver Exhibition and Conference Center, Vancouver, BC), CTG will exhibit novel sensor systems that have been developed alongside the UK and US government agencies and departments for use in detecting water contamination. With the continued threat of terrorism, CTG has been testing the highly advanced Fast Repetition Rate Fluorescence (FRRF) technology (FASTtracka II) in the critical role of environmental monitoring and protection. FASTtracka II will be on display on booth #423 at Oceans 2007.

FASTtracka II is ideally suited to safeguard our water reservoirs. Perfect for deployment at critical points in water distribution systems, it can detect contamination before and after treatment. Already, the system has detected several chemicals during investigations, including methylparathion (an insecticide that is structurally and functionally similar to the nerve gas sarin), potassium cyanide (which can result in nervous system and respiratory failure), diuron and paraquat.

As a system specifically designed to measure a wide range of physical, chemical, biological and optical properties, the response time for FASTtracka II is a matter of seconds. Whether the pollution is accidental or intentional, an accurate and swift response is vital following notification through an early warning-monitoring network (also under development by CTG).

Prairie Ocean Technologies, Inc., Chelsea Technologies North American Representative, will be hosting Booth #423. Also on display will also be the full range of Aquatracka III deep ocean fluorimeters, Minitracka II coastal fluorimeter and MiniPack compact CTD-fluorimeter unit.
