Hybrid RO system design feature now available with CSMPro

CSMPro v4.0, the latest version of the RO system design software developed by Woongjin Chemical Co Ltd, was released on February 1st, 2010. Used to calculate RO performance projections, the updates accommodates the diverse needs of RO users to create more accurate RO water treatment systems using CSM spiral-wound RO membrane elements.

A key feature that has been incorporated into CSMPro v4.0 is the ability to construct a hybrid RO system. Hybrid RO systems are increasingly preferred by engineers today since the unique advantages of different membrane types (i.e. low energy RO coupled with a high rejection RO membrane) can be combined in a single pressure vessel to yield more favorable results such as reduced treatment costs and increased energy savings.

Along with this feature, other improvements include:
- Precise control of the concentrate recycle from the 2nd pass
- Permeate split option where a portion of the lead-end permeate of the 1st pass can be blended with the permeate from the 2nd pass
- More accurate estimate of element values (e.g. flux decline, salt passage increase)
- System design projections with new CSM RO elements
