IESI-BFC acquires solid waste assets of Fred Weber
IESI-BFC Ltd. is acquiring one of the largest privately owned landfills in the United States as part of a larger deal for the solid waste assets of Fred Weber Inc. of St. Louis. The deal includes the waste collection, transfer and landfill assets of the company, including subsidiaries Crown Excel Disposal LLC and Weber Gas Energy LLC, for $159 million in cash.
As part of the deal, Toronto-based IESI-BFC is acquiring the Fred Weber landfill in Maryland Heights, Mo., which is the largest municipal solid waste landfill in Missouri as measured by volume. The landfill is on the west side of the St. Louis metropolitan market.
'Securing this landfill with its strategic proximity to the St. Louis market, together with the acquired waste collection and transfer assets, substantially improves our operational presence in the St. Louis marketplace,' said Keith Carrigan, CEO at IESI-BFC.
