Large Chemical Corporation Selects GTI Covers for Algae Control
Geomembrane Technologies Inc. (GTI) is proud to have been chosen for a cover project that will help a large chemical corporation control algae at its facility based in Texas, USA.
GTI will custom-design and fabricate four structurally supported cover systems for the plant’s sedimentation basins. By blocking sunlight with these covers, disinfectant dosing requirements are reduced and algae build-up is controlled, thus improving the overall treatment process and reducing operating costs.
The covers are designed to be retractable so that plant operators can easily perform routine maintenance. Measuring 58 ft x ~20 ft (18 m x 6 m), the covers are the longest retractable covers in GTI’s history.
The project is expected to be completed by late summer 2016.
