Larson Davis Introduces Revolutionary Vibration Dosimeter. Measures Risk of Hand-arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS)
Depew, NY, USA - Larson Davis, a division of PCB Piezotronics, Inc., has recently released The new VibTrack HAV™ vibration dosimeter for personal exposure monitoring. This extremely compact and durable hand-mounted instrument measures vibration directly to ISO5349 and ANSI S2.70 measurement standards and produces detailed exposure reports for accurate risk assessment and mitigation.
Exposure to high levels of vibration from powered hand tools such as grinders and saws produces irreversible and compensable injury including Reynaud’s Syndrome of Occupational origin, also known as HAVS (Hand-arm Vibration Syndrome) and is a contributing factor to CTS. Daily exposure to occupational limits allowed by the current EU Directive 2004/44/EC and the ACGIH will produce negative health effects in 10% of the workforce after as little as seven years. Until now, it has been extremely difficult to obtain accurate field measurements of exposure to excessive vibration levels.
However, recent advances in triaxial sensing technology by Larson Davis, have resulted in the world's first self-contained finger-mounted personal dosimeter for Hand-arm vibration. Intrinsically safe, and capable of measuring to ACGIH, ISO (5349) and ANSI (S2.70) standards, this miniature logging instrument provides continuous data for over 12 hours of exposure under the most severe conditions. Exposure data gathered can then be easily integrating into a prevention program.
