LOHAS forum announces Gulf Coast BP oil spill panel with U.S. EPA`s Stephanie Owens, environmentalist Philippe Cousteau and the cove producer Charles Hambleton
Experts to share unique insights from on the ground and discuss options for addressing the largest natural disaster in recent history
LOHAS (acronym for Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability) announced today the 'Gulf Coast BP Oil Spill: Reality and Next Steps' panel that will take place during the 2010 Forum on June 24 from 12:15 to 12:45pm at the St. Julien Hotel in Boulder, Colorado. Moderated by LOHAS director Ted Ning, panelists will include Stephanie Owens, director of the Office of Public Engagement for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); Philippe Cousteau, environmentalist, explorer and CEO of EarthEcho International; and Charles Hambleton, producer for Academy Award-winning documentary The Cove and diver.
'We find ourselves - government, public, private and non-profit organizations - in a situation of much confusion and uncertainty on how to address the monumental disaster facing our Gulf Coast,' said Ted Ning, director of LOHAS. 'By bringing together thought leaders from a cross-section of different expertise, we hope to help clarify the real situation while discussing impactful - and realistic - recovery options.'
As a setting for cross-pollination on ideas to address the most pressing issues, LOHAS Forum has included the panel as a last minute program addition, hoping to give attendees a range of perspectives - both on what the reality is on the ground and to discuss next steps in addressing the greatest natural disaster in recent history.
'This is a critical time as we gather at the LOHAS Forum to explore the impact of the oil disaster in the Gulf in Mexico that will have far-reaching consequences for our nation,' said Philippe Cousteau, environmentalist, explorer and CEO of EarthEcho International.
'What I have seen and heard over the last few weeks breaks my heart and reinforces the urgency to act in order to maintain some sort of decency as a species,' said Charles Hambleton, producer for Academy Award-winning documentary The Cove and diver.
Promoting lifestyles of health and sustainability, the annual LOHAS Forum brings together entrepreneurs, government heads, Fortune 1000 executives, investors, research institutions, academics and media for a program designed to inspire innovation and further expand the LOHAS market share.
