LRQA expands its Mexico operations

During a reception in the lobby of its new Monterrey office, Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance, Inc. (LRQA), a member of the Lloyd's Register Group (LR), and a global leader in business assurance services, was joined by Lloyd’s Register’s CEO, Richard Sadler, to celebrate the expansion of its Mexico Business Center.  The expansion builds on LRQA’s success within Mexico and across the Americas and demonstrates its commitment to gaining a larger market share while enhancing service capabilities and account management and strengthening client relationships throughout the Mexican market.

Sergio Garza, appointed Business Center Manager, takes responsibility for managing LRQA’s business across Mexico and implementing key strategies within the region.  Garza, who has served as Sales Manager for LRQA’s Mexico operations since joining the company in 2002, offers extensive experience in business development and client management.  He joins newly-appointed management in client services and technical operations and additional staff in the areas of marketing, sales, and training services.  As part of the expansion, the business has moved into a new, larger, multi-faceted facility that more than doubles the space and accommodates more than twice the number of staff as its prior location. 

As a significant contributor to LRQA’s success across the Americas, the Mexico office has experienced many accomplishments since its establishment, including:

  • an increase in revenue of over 63.7% since 2005 to over US $2.9 million at year-end June 2007;
  • achieving and maintaining a top-10 market share over the past few years; and
  • introducing new services to market, such as supply-chain assurance, information security, and food-safety management. 

“Redefinition of our Mexico operations represents an important step towards leveraging our local strengths to gain an even larger share of the Mexican market,” comments Andrew Smith, Senior Vice President, Lloyd's Register Americas Management Systems.  “For many years, we’ve been impressed with the dedication, energy, and enthusiasm we’ve seen from our team in Mexico, and we’re confident the changes we’re making will add significantly to our capabilities.  These developments show LRQA’s, and Lloyd's Register’s, dedication to placing a stronger investment in further servicing the Mexican market,” added Smith.

Established in 1999 as an extension of LRQA’s North American operation, whose primary hub is in Houston, Texas, LRQA’s Mexico branch officially became its own self-operating, LRQA Business Center January 1, 2008.  The Mexico expansion follows LRQA’s announcement of the restructuring of its North American operations and management team in October 2007.
