Lumasense develops new thermal imaging camera platform for industrial monitoring
Santa Clara, Calif -- LumaSense Technologies, Inc. has introduced a new line of highly configurable thermal imaging cameras specifically designed for use in harsh environments. The MC320 line features uniquely configured optics and detectors that enable the cameras to be tuned to specific infrared wavelengths and optimal performance to best suit a particular application. This flexibility means the MC320 platform is a cost-effective solution for a wide range of applications including process control, predictive maintenance, safety and critical vessel monitoring.
Integrating the infrared camera expertise acquired from Mikron Infrared Inc. and the Vanadium Oxide (VOx) detector technology recently acquired from infrared detector maker ITC, the MC320 line will become LumaSense’s flagship platform for its fixed industrial thermal imaging solutions. Leveraging this integrated approach between camera design, optics and detectors coupled with LumaSense’s comprehensive software will enable a wide variety of turnkey solutions for various industries such as energy, steel, glass, and refining, among others.
“One size does not fit all in the world of industrial infrared imaging,” said Brett Sargent, Vice President/General Manager of Products at LumaSense. “The MC320 line enables LumaSense to offer highly accurate, flexible thermal imaging solutions to a wide variety of industries. With the MC320 platform, we can cost-effectively customize the lens, power source, calibration profile and even the wavelength detected to provide the best possible temperature measurement solution.”
The majority of industrial cameras on the market are “long wave” cameras operating in the 7-14 micron wavelengths, which are best suited to applications with lower temperatures and in environment without interference. Mid-wave cameras operating in the 3-7 micron spectrum are particularly effective for seeing through interference such as flames and also perform well when measuring the temperature of highly reflective materials such as glass and plastics, but have historically have used exotic and expensive detector materials.
The MC320 platform supports the widest range of mid-wave VOx based cameras available on the market today applying application specific wavelengths and temperature ranges. Each model is tuned to perform in the most demanding industrial applications providing the best sensitivity and image quality available in this price range.
