Lynxs wins major Russian order

April 14 2008  - UK-based LYNXS Shredder has won the contract to deliver one of the Company’s largest shredders for JSC Severstal at its headquarters in Cherepovets, Russia.

The 10,000hp TMR 325x300 Shredder will be installed by JSC Severstal at their major steelworks in Cherepovets, located in the Volodga region of Russia.

The order incorporates the shredder itself with 7,460 kW main drive, in-feed conveyor and extensive downstream separation equipment, designed to increase significantly the purity of the ferrous scrap. The high quality ferrous product will be fed directly to the company’s furnaces. A complex non-ferrous metal recovery completes the downstream plant.

The Shredder will produce up to one million tons of scrap per year as part of the 11 million tons of liquid steel annual production at the Cherepovets site. An additional challenge for this project is the operating temperature, which is between minus 20°C and plus 40°C.

Commenting on the order LYNXS’ MD Tim Christian said: “We won this contract against strong International competition and we look forward to seeing the shredder in operation in early 2009.”
