ALPHARETTA, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- MACTEC has released a comprehensive 48-page Sustainability Report that highlights the company’s external/internal sustainability efforts, and provides economically sound, conservation-minded solutions.
“Providing lasting and sustaining solutions that meet the needs of our clients is the foundation from which we operate,” said MACTEC Director of Sustainability Sarah Hansen. “Now, we’re adding the dialogue around sustainability while continuing to advance sustainability through collaboration and innovation.”
According to Hansen, the firm’s sustainability initiatives seek a balance between social responsibility, environmental stewardship, and economic benefit.
More than 70 percent of MACTEC’s 2010 revenues were attributable to projects delivering sustainable solutions, noted Hansen. Touting notable achievements in social, economic and environmental performance, the report highlights the firm’s record for delivering sustainable solutions. Project profiles showcasing sustainability in action are provided:
- 54% of revenue is associated with providing community outreach services
- 46% of revenue derives from projects that help create jobs
- 68% of revenue demonstrates conservation of resources
- 53% of revenue accounts for improving habitat quality and biodiversity by restoring natural ecosystems
- 61% of revenue involves projects on which clients have seen a return on investment, cost savings, or cost avoidance
- 77% of revenue includes projects on which client risks are reduced or eliminated.
Internally, MACTEC offices and employees – 86% last year – have participated in a wide variety of community outreach activities: Habitat for Humanity, Toys for Tots, Engineers without Borders, and Salvation Army, among others.
In addition, the report outlines measures MACTEC has taken to create a more sustainable workplace. Last year each office was surveyed to glean data about facility management practices, energy/water use, waste management and recycling efforts. The findings have been used to help identify ways to reduce the environmental footprint for each office and establish a timeline for doing so.
