Make everyday World no tobacco day! – EU-OSHA for smoke-free healthy workplaces

0

Every 31st May, World No Tobacco Day highlights the health risks associated with tobacco use and calls for effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption.

Smoking tobacco is known to be linked with respiratory and cardiovascular illnesses, as well as a very significant increased risk of developing certain cancers. But second-hand smoke exposure or passive smoking is also a significant cause of disease, disability and mortality in the European Union.

Smoking bans at the workplace have been implemented in several European countries, nevertheless some employees are still exposed to environmental tobacco smoke.

From EU-OSHA we call on employers and employees to work together to eliminate environmental tobacco smoke at work. Healthy workplaces are smoke-free workplaces!
