The Mayor of London Boris Johnson has confirmed that the western extension to the Congestion Charge will be removed from 4th January 2011. The Mayor also confirmed plans to introduce a 'greener vehicles discount' in place of the current 'alternative fuels discount', which will provide free entry to the charging areas for vehicles which emit less than 100 grams of CO2 per kilometre and meet the Euro 5 emissions standards. Environmental Protection UK opposed both moves in our response to the Mayor's consultation earlier this year, which you can read here.
