MEP informed the media about the bulletin on the release data of main pollutants in all provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities in the first six months of the year.
According to Liu Bingjiang, Director General of MEP Department of Total Pollutant Load Control, MEP organized the verification and accounting of the total pollutant load of main pollutants reduced by all provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government in the first six months of the year, in accordance with relevant regulations. In the first half year, the national CODCr discharge amounted to 11.383 mil. t, down 2.90% year on year; the NH3-N discharge 1.186 mil. t, down 3.18% year on year; the SO2 emission 9.891 mil. t, down 4.63% year on year; and NOx 10.028 mil. t, down 8.80% year on year. The release of each of the four pollutants dropped significantly.
In the first six months, the municipal wastewater treatment capacity (including that of designated towns and industrial parks) increased by 3.5 mil. t/d, adding the combined capacity up to 175 mil. t/d. Advanced wastewater treatment and recycling engineering became available for 270 paper making, printing and dyeing, and other major projects. Up to 3,670 scaled livestock and poultry breeding farms had their waste processing and resource utilization facilities improved. The installed capacity of de-NOx thermal power generation units increased by 59.8 mil. kW, adding the combined capacity of de-NOx generation units up to 750 mil. kW, accounting for 87% of the total installed capacity of all thermal power generation units. The new and upgraded de-SOx thermal power generation units amounted to 64 mil. kW, so the de-SOx units accounted for 96% of the total installed capacity of coal-fired power generating units. Flue gas de-SOx facility was made available to another 11,000 m2 iron and steel sintering machines, adding the combined de-SOx sintering area up to 134,000 m2, accounting for 88% of the total sintering area. De-NOx facility was made available to additional 92 mil. t new-type dry-process production line of cement clinkers, adding the de-NOx production capacity of cement clinkers up to 1.46 bn. t, accounting for 88% of the total production capacity of new-type dry-process production lines. De-NOx facility was established for a 33,000 t/d plate glass production line, adding the combined production capacity of de-NOx plate glass up to 75,000 t/d, accounting for 43% of the total national production capacity. The gas availability increased by 750 mil. m3 through coal-to-gas projects in local areas, replacing 1.7 mil. t coals.
