Methanogen collaborate with Base Structures on groundbreaking commercial Micro AD system
Small scale Anaerobic Digestion to provide realistic, local and domestic green energy and great fertiliser.
11th July 2012 -- Leading lights in Anaerobic Digestion, Methanogen utilise over 30 years of experience to provide a one stop shop for the supply of AD technology, from the process design stage to on-site construction of installations.
Formed by James Murcott, pioneering builder of AD plants since 1974 and Angie Bywater, renewable energy consultant and author of the influential RASE report on small-scale on-farm AD systems, Methanogen has recently developed a new ‘Biogastronomy’ range of small scale micro AD systems.
Designed to make AD available to domestic and community users, the Biogastronomy range provides an energy source that is produced on site reducing the owners’ reliance on carbon rich energy sources as well as producing a well rotted digestate for the vegetable patch.
Methanogen approached Base Structures to develop a small scale triple membrane biogas holder to act as a buffer in their Biogastronomy systems. With a capacity of only 0.2m2, the initial biogas holder will form part of a portable demonstration model used to prove the feasibility and advantages of small scale AD.
Angie Bywater commented “We were very impressed that Base Structrues brought the same enthusiasm, professionalism, engineering skills and quality materials into creating our small mobile biogas holder that they bring to their work at all scales.”.
Jon Morris, Director and Head of Production at Base Structures said “I am absolutely delighted that Base has the opportunity to work alongside such prominent figures from the AD industry. Allying our innovation and construction skills with Methanogen’s knowledge and experience should ensure we come up with some very novel solutions to existing problems!”
