Metropolitan Water District Hosts Spring Green Expo Tomorrow (Wednesday, May 4)

Event will feature latest in water sustainability, innovations in green housing design and solar power applications

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Metropolitan Water District of Southern California:

WHAT:   Hosted by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, the Spring Green Expo is an educational event featuring more than 50 exhibits by college students, businesses and public agencies as well as one-hour seminars focusing on the latest in landscape and garden design.
 
WHEN:

Wednesday, May 4, starting with opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m.; seminars to begin at 9 a.m.; exhibits open from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

PARTICIPANTS: Metropolitan General Manager Jeffrey Kightlinger will join MWD board Directors Larry D. Dick of the Municipal Water District of Orange County and James T. Edwards of Foothill Municipal Water District at the opening ceremony. Other participants include Pamela Berstler, a co-founder of G3, The Green Gardens Group; Bart C. O'Brien, director of Special Projects at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden in Claremont; Christy Wilhelmi, founder of Gardenerd.com; and students from nine Southern California colleges and universities.
 
BACKGROUND: The expo will showcase the latest in water sustainability, innovations in green design for housing, and new solar power applications. With a focus on the cutting edge of green design, the expo will have seminars and more than 50 exhibits from college students as well as businesses and public agencies.
 
Seminar topics include “Rainwater: Slow, Spread and Sink It Into Your Sponge Garden”; “Reimagining the California Lawn”; and “Eating from Your Own Garden.”

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is a cooperative of 26 cities and water agencies serving nearly 19 million people in six counties.The district imports water from the Colorado River and Northern California to supplement local supplies, and helps its members to develop increased water conservation, recycling, storage and other resource-management programs.
