0
Make Chicago your education destination this fall to get maximum-value training from leading experts at minimal cost. The Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST) offers two Select Site Courses, MIL-STD-810G and Vibration Basics A–Z, and multiple ways to save on them. Discounts are available for 'early birds' who register before October 5, as well as for groups—submit two course registrations from the same company and receive a third registration free! Courses will be held November 10–12, 2009 at the Doubletree Hotel Chicago-Arlington Heights in Arlington Heights, IL.

The two-day MIL-STD-810G course will answer questions concerning the latest version of the military DOD Test Method Standard for Environmental Engineering Considerations and Laboratory Tests. Topics will include why we need the Standard, what its parts are, what the intent and limitations of the document are, and why is there a need for tailoring. Also covered will be general laboratory test guidelines, changes in the methods, and natural versus induced environments.

The co-instructors for this course are Chris Peterson and Fred Fey. Peterson has worked in the field of climatic and dynamic testing for the past 20 years. She has been a working group member for the editing committee of MIL-STD-810 for the revisions to F and G and is currently the IEST Technical Vice President for Design, Test, and Evaluation/Product Reliability. Fey is president and owner of VibroAcoustics Technologies, which supplies and supports complete turn-key vibration systems. He is a Senior Member and former President of IEST.

Vibration Basics A–Z is a one-day course geared to technicians and entry-level test engineers wanting a solid base of knowledge in vibration testing. Attendees will gain insight into such key areas as sinusoidal vibration concepts, random vibration, accelerometers, fixtures, controllers, and electro-dynamic shakers.

Instructor Fred Fey is president and owner of VibroAcoustics Technologies, and a Senior Member and former President of IEST.
