Friday, 20th May 2005 – Tony Killeen, TD, Minister for Labour Affairs in the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, was in Cork today at the launch of a new health, safety and environmental management software package developed by Cork company, EHA Soft Solutions Solutions.

EHA Soft Solutions has grown out of the demands of industry for international best practice risk management software, and draws on the experience of two established Cork companies, Employment Health Advisors (EHA) and Integrated Control Solutions, both of whom have extensive experience in the compliance and manufacturing areas.

The raft of new legislation emanating from Europe now requires an inordinate amount of time from people within the industry to comply fully with all the new regulations in force. As a result more and more Irish companies are striving to gain certification to the international management system standards for environment (ISO14001) and safety (OHSAS18001).

Some of the critical challenges facing managers today include keeping occupational health and safety risk assessments current, ensuring accident reporting and investigation is thorough and effective, waste management does not leave the company non-compliant, hygiene management is addressed properly and environmental risk assessment is part of day to day business. EHA with its practical experience in relation to the implementation of management systems to international standards, realised the burden on managers could be greatly reduced and thus the mai platform with its modular products was born.

The new MAI compliance software suite has been developed over the last two and a half years in active partnership with some of the biggest Irish and multinational corporations in Ireland, including Abbott Pharmaceuticals, Pepsi-Cola International, Johnson & Johnson and Irish Distillers. Companies who are already using this product find that it is intuitive and that it standardises their risk assessment methodology, and doubles as an effective training tool.

Minister Killeen said he believed that the growth of companies like EHA Soft Solutions was another example of the skill and technical expertise in the Irish economy. “The development of new and improved ISO standards, along with recent and forthcoming EU legislation, have created a need for world class compliance software in Ireland. EHA Soft Solutions’s development and production of this type of software is another example of the leading talent that exists in the Irish economy.”
