Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) March 28, 2013 -- Minneapolis Parks and Recreation is proud to announce their 6th Annual 2013 Recycle Run 5K to benefit the Minneapolis Earth Day Clean Up. There will also be a free half-mile Kids Run. The Clean Up draws attention to the lakes and rivers in the Minneapolis area and the effects individual actions have on urban water quality.
The Recycle Run 5K starts at 9:00am with a half-mile Kids Run for youth 11 and under beginning at 8:45am. The 5K Run is a chip-timed event. All participants will receive a t-shirt and giveaways with registration. There will be kids’ activities and refreshments after the race. Participants are encouraged to bring their used running shoes and shirts as items will be collected and recycled. Interested participants can register at http://www.minneapolisrecyclerun.com.
The Recycle Run supports the Minneapolis Earth Day Cleanup Event taking place on Saturday, April 20, 2013. The Earth Day Clean Up is the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board’s largest annual volunteer event and one of the largest community service events in Minneapolis. Since 2008, more than 10,000 residents have removed more than 75,000 lbs. of garbage from our neighborhoods and streets during the annual Cleanup. It’s free to participate and residents are encouraged to partake by volunteering to help pick up.
