PPM Technology, a specialist gas detection and indoor air quality instrumentation manufacturer from Wales has developed a range of multi-parameter indoor air quality monitoring equipment.
Indoor air quality (IAQ) relates to a number of environmental factors inside a building that can impinge on the health, comfort, or work performance of the building’s occupants. Monitoring IAQ is vital because it is estimated that the average person spends 90% of their time breathing “indoor air”.
Poor IAQ is a contributing factor to both short and long-term health issues, these can lead to decreased productivity, absenteeism, and in some cases possible litigation. Common symptoms associated with poor indoor air quality can include eye, nose, and throat irritation, headache, nausea, dizziness, and fatigue. In some cases exposure to indoor air pollution can lead to acute and chronic respiratory illnesses.
In order to accurately understand a building’s indoor air quality, it is advised to simultaneously monitor various indoor air quality parameters including gases, temperature and humidity.
PPM Technology’s range of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) monitoring instruments include the Wireless IAQ Profile Monitor it can contain sensors for a maximum of 7 customer specified IAQ parameters.
The Mini IAQ Profile Monitor can contain a maximum of 5 sensors. Both these instruments send the collected IAQ data wirelessly to the control pc/laptop in real-time; a large number of units can be networked together to enable accurate monitoring of an entire building.
The PPMonitor software enables the data to be viewed graphically, produce reports and statistical data, run schedules as well as alarm functions and notifications for more effective and economical building management.
The software can set limits for temperature, humidity, and for concentrations of hazardous gases, which when exceeded can activate and control the air-conditioning and ventilation systems. It can also turn heating on and off, and as a last resort trigger building alarms. The alarm can be triggered to give a warning that the gas concentration level has reached a non-critical but concerning level. A further alarm can give a more severe warning when this occurs.
The PPM Stand Alone System (SAS) offers real time, simultaneous measurement of seven customer specified IAQ Parameters. The full PPMonitor software package is integrated within the stand alone system and is displayed and can be control form the built in screen.
Our newest instrument is the 'Touch Screen' IAQ Profile Monitor is a stand-alone IAQ monitoring unit, capable of continuously monitoring up to 7 IAQ parameters. It is built with an integrated 3.5” ‘touch screen’ panel, which allows the user to navigate through the various sensors simply by touching the panel. The ‘touch screen’ software allows simple control and navigation; the user can view the data graphically, create monitoring schedules, produce reports and statistical data, as well as enable alarm functions and notifications for more effective and economical building management.
