September 25th - 12 PM EST

Don't miss this opportunity to learn more about the latest developments and strategies that can be used to manage and remediate perchlorate in groundwater.

M. Tony Lieberman, RSM
Bioremediation Program Manager

Seminar Overview
Monitored natural attenuation (MNA) is one of several technologies that can be used to manage and remediate perchlorate in groundwater. Solutions-IES, Inc., with funding from ESTCP, has recently authored a guidance document entitled Natural Attenuation of Perchlorate in Groundwater: Processes, Tools and Monitoring Techniques. This protocol describes a 3-tiered approach to help the end user evaluate perchlorate MNA as a remedial strategy. In this webinar training session, Solutions-IES will describe how the guidance document can be applied to obtain sufficient lines of evidence to demonstrate that perchlorate MNA is safe, effective and protective of human and environmental health. A case study will be used to illustrate the approach. The webinar will be of interest to site managers, project managers, engineers, hydrogeologists and regulators seeking a strategy for applying this technology to an increasing contaminant of concern.

Mr. Tony Lieberman, R.S.M. is the Solutions-IES Bioremediation Program Manager. Mr. Lieberman received his B.S. in Biology from St. Lawrence University and his M.S. in Microbiology from Penn State University. He spent 11 years as a Research Support Specialist in the Laboratory of Soil Microbiology in the Dept. of Agronomy at Cornell University, and has over 23 years of consulting experience. Mr. Lieberman has worked on many soil and groundwater assessments and remediations, utilizing both biological and non-biological treatment approaches for various groundwater contaminants. He currently serves as Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-PI on ESTCP-funded projects separately evaluating the use of emulsified oil and the potential of MNA for remediating perchlorate in groundwater. Mr. Lieberman was a member of the ITRC Perchlorate Team, a contributor to its Tech-Reg documents, and an internet trainer. He has co-authored chapters on in situ bioremediation and has prepared numerous presentations and publications on this topic.
