Robert L. Powell, Ph.D., President of ENVIRON International Corporation, the U.S. consulting division of ENVIRON Holdings, Inc., is pleased to announce that Nestor D. Soler, P.E., has joined the firm as a Principal in the Princeton, New Jersey, office. According to Dr. Powell, “Nestor’s more than 22 years of experience in the fields of environmental, geotechnical and civil engineering position him well to expand ENVIRON’s existing capabilities in the areas of Brownfield redevelopment, beneficial reuse programs for contaminated materials, and biomass-to-energy projects for landfills.” Currently, site remediation and Brownfield redevelopment services are included in ENVIRON’s Site Characterization & Remediation practice area, which offers a full spectrum of technical, scientific, and management capabilities within a single line of services that provide site owners and developers with proven, economical environmental solutions.

Thomas V. Fusillo, Managing Principal of ENVIRON’s Princeton office, remarked, “the in-depth environmental and geotechnical expertise that Nestor brings to bear on Brownfield and landfill projects will definitively enhance the site-related services that we provide to our regional marketplace.”

Nestor will also be assisting in the procurement, development, and implementation of methane emission reduction programs, services that are provided by ENVIRON’s wholly owned subsidiary, CarbonVentures. CarbonVentures offers a full range of services to address the technical and commercial aspects of climate change and greenhouse gas emissions management.

In discussing his association with ENVIRON, Nestor noted, “At ENVIRON, I have finally found a company that can provide all the scientific, engineering and management services to those interested in responsible and profitable site solutions. The quality and experience of the firm’s professionals, the global geographic coverage, and the diversified range of services attracted me.”

According to Nestor, successful Brownfield redevelopment is a win-win-win situation that benefits the environment by making possible the remediation of abandoned contaminated sites, improves communities by providing new sources of economic growth while simultaneously preserving open spaces, and frees the government from the economic burden of remediating abandoned sites, while providing opportunities for smart investors. Yet the process can become unnecessarily burdensome, because those in charge of site remediation and development frequently find themselves dealing with numerous consultants who may fail to assemble all the permitting and technical elements properly into a dynamic plan consistent with continuously evolving environmental policies and programs.

With the addition of Nestor’s capabilities and experience, ENVIRON offers an inception-to-completion, single-source solution to site redevelopment teams in our regional marketplace.
