Following the launch of the S:Max sludge screen to the UK sewage and wastewater treatment market in 2010 CDEnviro have announced an expansion of the range. The new S:Max SRU10 is designed for operators requiring smaller capacities than that offered by the SRU25 model.
“The SRU25 was initially designed for introduction to major sludge processing sites such as the one at Minworth Sewage Treatment works in Birmingham where it has been very successful” explains Matt Bunting, Commercial Manager with CDEnviro. “The introduction of the SRU10 model ensures that the range includes the flexibility to cope with a range of capacity requirements both within the major water companies and industrial applications.”
The SRU10 offers a sludge screening capacity of 120m3 per hour and is equipped with the same design features that are available on the larger model. This includes the capability for tankers to discharge directly to the S:Max which eliminates the requirement for a reception tank. This reduces overall project implementation costs as a result of the reduced civils requirement and ensures that the S:Max can easily be retrofitted to existing sludge processing sites.
An automated backwash system on the S:Max minimises the requirement for operator intervention to clear blockages from the screening system. The need for operator intervention is further reduced thanks to the removal of the reception tank as it is here that the build up of screenings often causes blockages. Commenting on the S:Max installation at Minworth Sewage Treatment Works in Birmingham Nick Williams of Severn Trent commented “Technologies which reduce the amount of operator intervention are key for us. S:Max delivers on this thanks to its capability for continuous, uninterrupted, hassle free operation.”
S:Max has been designed to meet all the specification requirements of the UK water industry and includes ATEX zones 1 and 2 explosion proof motors, anti-pegging screen media, WIMES protective coatings and fully galvanised walkways and access stairs to ensure safe an easy operator access.
In addition the S:Max can be offered with many optional extras including and odour enclosure allowing for installations on sites where it has previously not been possible to include a sludge screening system, automated frost protection and an integrated conveyor for stockpiling of screenings.
