Delft -- When measuring solar radiation professionally, measurement accuracy and data availability are key. Data availability is reduced by dew and frost deposition on the domes of traditional pyranometers, whether these are ventilated or not.
Hukseflux Thermal Sensors has developed an ISO 9060 secondary standard pyranometer with sapphire outer dome and internal heater that solves these issues.
The combined use of sapphire and internal heating in the new SR25 pyranometer keeps the outer dome dew- and frost-free, highly increasing data availability, while maintaining its high measurement accuracy. In addition, SR25 needs very low power.
Patents on the SR25 are pending and test results are shown on the website: www.hukseflux.com. SR25 is available now.
