MANTECH, a manufacturer of analyzers for water and soil testing, based in Guelph/Eramosa is requesting transparency and justification from the Ontario Government Procurement Department regarding a contract awarded to a foreign manufacturer that negatively impacts Ontario and our region from a social, business and taxpayer point of view. The majority of MANTECH Employees and their Families, live, work and play in Centre Wellington and Guelph.
Recently, MANTECH participated in a public tender for an automated water analyzer for the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP). There were 2 compliant bids, MANTECH and a foreign manufacturer. MANTECH’s highest price (with optional item included) was $79,852. The business was awarded to the foreign manufacturer for $90,000. Numerous requests by MANTECH for transparency and justification have been met with secrecy, with the only response being, “it was fair”. During this period of COVID requiring supports from our tax dollars, and with the added importance to invest in local businesses, this is quite troubling. Join our community to request for transparency as to why the Ontario manufactured product, with Ontario Developed Technology, was not the choice with a lower price. In summary, join our community to request the Ontario Government provide a full disclosure as to how the Ontario taxpayer benefitted with the decision made to spend a higher amount of tax dollars resulting in the support of jobs overseas and sending profit overseas. Join our community to request how this decision positively impacts our region and Ontario from a social, business and taxpayer point of view.
