Potential Exposure Risks to Barium and Barium Compounds Discussed in New Online Video
The IAQ Video Network releases another educational production about an important environmental, health and safety (EHS) topic.
Phoenix, AZ, May 16th, 2021 -- The IAQ Video Network and Cochrane & Associates announced the release of their latest educational video today. Their newest production discusses exposure risks to elevated levels of barium and barium compounds.
“Barium is a metal that combines with other chemicals such as sulfur or carbon and oxygen to form barium compounds which are used in drilling muds and to make various products, such as some paints, bricks, ceramics, glass and rubber,” said Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane and Associates and the IAQ Video Network. “Workers in some industries could be at risk of elevated exposure as could people living in areas with unusually high natural levels of barium in the drinking water. This is why EPA has set a limit for barium in drinking water and why OHSA has set PELs for barium compounds and NIOSH has RELs.”
This video was sponsored by a number of organizations and leading industry professionals that work to protect and enhance the public's health and safety. Sponsors include EMSL Analytical, LA Testing, Clark Seif Clark, Zimmetry Environmental and Healthy Indoors Magazine to name a few.
