PureAir Filtration Announces the Launch of Sulphasorb 2 Chemisorbant Media
Atlanta, Georgia – PureAir Filtration is excited to announce the launch of Sulphasorb 2TM, a new activated alumina and carbon chemical adsorbent media, which reduces the risk of carbon bed fires in paper mills and other critical locations. The official launch date for Sulphasorb 2 TM was January 2022 and it is currently available for order.
PureAir enhanced its original SulphasorbTM to create this upgraded chemisorbent media in response to fire concerns at paper mills where corrosive gases are present. Serious explosions and fires have happened in paper mills over the years due to not properly maintaining air purification systems or following the right procedures to mitigate risk. A fire can harm employees and equipment, causing an extended period of downtime, which can lead to unexpected repair costs. Although no PureAir media has been involved in a media bed fire, we chose to tackle the industry-wide problem head on.
PureAir’s Sulphasorb 2TM dramatically reduces the risk of fire by using a proprietary caustic blend impregnated on a mixture of activated alumina and carbon. The manufacturing process has been updated to cut costs, thus lowering the price. PureAir has submitted Sulphasorb 2TM for UL registration and it is made in the U.S.A.

Sulphasorb TM, and now Sulphasorb 2TM, is half of the mixture of PP Blend, so PureAir also modified its production process. Companies can continue to count on PP Blend media to ensure bed fires are no longer a problem while maintaining the same high-quality performance.
