Scotland’s newest crematorium opens this week

Matthews’ latest cremation plant commences operation

A new multi-million pound, family run crematorium to serve North Ayrshire, Scotland, was opened this week and the very first cremation is scheduled to take place on Wednesday June 6th.  The new ‘Clyde Coast & Garnock Valley Crematorium’ has been developed by father and son, Jim and Jeremy Hamilton, together with their business partner Stephen Byfield and the concept was conceived following a family bereavement when Jim and Jeremy discovered a severe shortage of cremation facilities within the area.

Scotland’s newest crematorium opens this week

After fully researching the market for human cremation plant manufacturers the new crematorium developers had no hesitation in selecting Matthews Environmental Solutions to design, build and install the crematorium’s new cremation plant.

The system that was proposed and specified is a Novus cremation plant, custom-designed and engineered exclusively to meet the individual requirements of the new crematorium and included among its specifications is a bespoke wide chamber that is capable of accepting the largest of coffins.

Matthews’ Novus cremation plant is internationally recognised for its operational efficiency, guaranteed quality and reliability, fuel efficiency and its outstanding environmental attributes.  In designing the new cremation plant Matthews included the latest and most-advanced fully automated operation via a dedicated PLC-based control, supervisory and monitoring system.

The cremation plant has also been designed to facilitate extended operation and it has been skillfully engineered to ensure the most efficient performance qualities as well as complete compliance with all the latest social and environmental regulations.  These include strict emission management through flue gas abatement technologies, low noise acoustics, together with thermal, electrical and fuel energy reduction and saving systems.

The Novus cremation plant was custom-designed, engineered and factory tested in our Manchester-based headquarters before being shipped to the new crematorium site where it was installed and commissioned by our own team of skilled installation engineers.

We wish the new ‘Clyde Coast & Garnock Valley Crematorium’ every success as it begins to provide what is a much needed and valuable facility to the families of that region of Scotland.
