Smart and compact Infrared Sources for high-performance NDIR Gas Sensing
Leister Corporate, Axetris, Infrared Sources
Gas sensors based on Non-Dispersive Infrared (NDIR) techniques have continuously gained popularity over the past decades. A number of clear trends in gas sensor design are visible today – gas sensors are getting smaller, consuming less power, and unit sensor cost is decreasing. At the same time the market is demanding improved measuring performance (LDL) from gas sensing solutions.
To master that contradiction, small (quasi point characteristics), efficient and fast modulating IR Sources are essential. The miniature EMIRS50 from Axetris scores on all these points. With a well-designed and optimized optical path and considering the drive recommendations, the product offers new possibilities to gas sensor manufacturers. In an internal test at Axetris (see graph), it has been shown that in an optimized setup with fast-acting optical detectors, the miniature EMIRS50 achieved higher optical performance compared with the larger EMIRS200 at modulation frequencies > 20 Hz.
Axetris continuously benchmarks its infrared source products in internal tests, with the goal of supporting gas sensor designers in real-world applications.
Contact the Axetris support team to get a detailed summary of the internal tests, and to discuss your specific design requirements.
