- Adam Sumel, President and CEO of Sonic Environmental Solutions Inc.
(SNV.TSX Venture) announced that the Company last week participated in a
trade delegation to WASTEC 2004 in Tokyo, Japan where Sonic introduced its proprietary
Sonoprocess for the remediation
of PCB contaminated soil.
The Company presented Sonics solution to PCB soil contamination at the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo on November 22nd to approximately 80 individuals from a number of Japanese organizations. Sonic presented its non-thermal, on-site remediation solution and gave an introduction to the Sonic PCB Sonoprocess which uses its patented sonic generator Platform Technology. Sonic is seeking appropriate partners to facilitate entry into the Japanese market.
The Company also participated in WASTEC 2004 where it was made apparent to Sonic that the Japanese environmental remediation market is seeking environmentally friendly solutions to PCB contamination. Interest in Sonics mobile PCB solution was received from organizations, large and small, many of whom have expressed interest in doing business with Sonic. The Company held further meetings with potential partners, including trading houses, manufacturers and general contractors/developers. The high level of interest in Sonics PCB remediation and destruction solution confirms our initial optimism for the opportunities in the Japanese PCB contaminated soils market. The value of land combined with recent legislation (Law Concerning Special Measures against PCB waste) requiring clean-up of PCB by 2016 demands that organizations address the liabilities associated with past industrial development.
Due to the lack of sustainable options for clean-up of PCB contaminated soil in Japan, Sonic believes that organizations requiring remediation will seek Sonics PCB treatment process as the most sustainable and effective solution. A recently reported contract in Japan to clean-up PCB contaminated soil was equal to between $3000 to $4000 US per ton which did not include the actual destruction of the PCB.
Paul Austin VP Marketing stated: We are extremely impressed with the level of interest we received in Japan on our PCB soil remediation solution. I would like to commend the people at the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and Leading Edge BC for coordinating the events. We have already received follow-up interest from some of the multi-billion dollar companies that we met. This is an excellent start to finding appropriate partners that will allow Sonic to launch into the Japanese market. We expect potential partners and clients to visit our facilities in the near future.
Anton Kuipers from Leading Edge BC stated: I have made several trips to Japan with many different BC companies and I am very pleased to say that Sonic received one of the highest levels of interest ever. I will continue to work with Sonic to help them commercially succeed on the international level.
Sonic recently received confirmation of regulatory compliance of their PCB process in British Columbia. All of Sonics sonoprocesses use a patented Platform Technology generating sonic energy on an industrial scale.
