SonicSolutions Speaking and Exhibiting at WEFTEC 2019
SonicSolutions Algae Control selected to present at three upcoming events including WEFTEC & SW American Water Works Association Conferences
Presentations include case study results from customers using the Hydro Bio-Science® Product line, offering the largest and most advanced ultrasound unit on the market for nonchemical algae control
Northampton, MA – August 2019
SonicSolutions Algae Control LLC, based in Northampton, MA has been selected to present at the three upcoming events this fall. The first of the three events will be at the Algae Blooms and HABs Remediation Workshop in Toledo, OH September 10-11 (www.nationalalgaeassociation.com), followed by an Exhibitor Technical Session at WEFTEC 2019 conference in Chicago (September 22-25 www.weftec.org), and will be on a panel at the Southwest American Water Works Association Conference & Exposition (SW AWWA, October 20-23 www.swawwa.org) in Branson, MO.
SonicSolutions Algae Control will be presenting two case studies on customer installations, one in a drinking water reservoir in OH and one at a utility plant in Attala, MS. Rick Schaffer, Superintendent of the Water Treatment plant in Wilmington, OH stated that their goal in using ultrasound was to reduce chemical (copper sulphate) treatment costs and manual labor. “The reservoir looks as good as it does (on a daily basis) the day after a copper treatment….The thing works.” The utility company in Attala, MS used the SonicSolutions Algae Control ultrasound technology to clear the algae and reduce TOC in their source water.
“We are excited to be able to share success stories of using ultrasound for non-chemical algae control with the workshop, WEF and SW AWWA attendees,” says Devon Assael, presenter and VP Sales & Marketing for SonicSolutions Algae Control LLC. “WEF’s new exhibitor presentation platform allows exhibitors to showcase their case studies and testimonials to those on the EXPO floor who may not attend the full conference.”
“The opportunity to present to the smaller local chapters of AWWA is an honor for SonicSolutions Algae Control. We are glad to be part of the conference, share the case study about how ultrasound helped the Mississippi utility group, and talk with others who have similar algae issues, and see how ultrasound may be a solution for them as well,” says Dana Taylor, President of the 16 year old company. SonicSolutions Algae Control has been exhibiting at WEFTEC since its inception, and this is the first time they submitted to speak and were selected. George Hutchinson, CTO and VP of SonicSolutions Algae Control will also be helping in the presentation at WEFTEC. This is the first time participating at the Algae Blooms and HABs Remediation Workshop.
The patent pending Hydro Bio-Science® product line, manufactured by Diversified Power International, a Piney Flats, TN manufacturing facility, includes two models, Quattro-DB® and *Mezzo-DB®, and provide over 2,000 frequencies in one transducer head. The algae control range can reach up to 120 acres of coverage for blue-green algae with a single unit.
Ultrasound technology has been in use for non-chemical algae control since the late 1990’s, and has quickly grown in popularity among municipalities, golf courses, wineries and many more industries as an alternative to chemical algae control.
The device works in harmony with aquatic wildlife (fish and animals), aquatic plants, bio-solids and planktonic organisms other than algae. Since the device can control biofilm formation on cleaned surfaces, you may notice surfaces near the device remain clean for long periods after being initially cleaned. This is due to inhibiting anaerobic bacterial colonization due to their sensing the ultrasonic signature as water turbulence. Fungi (eg. Pythium) and bacteria with gas vesicles will also be controlled by the device by causing them to lose buoyancy.
