`Strong growth` in lead sales for Recylex

France: After a difficult 2013, major French metals recycler Recylex now seems to have found a route back towards recovery. The company's sales for the first quarter of 2014 totalled Euro 114 million, up 19% on the same period last year.

The company's lead segment recorded particularly strong growth both in terms of production and sales, the latter rising 25% to Euro 87 million. 'The efficiency gains achieved at the Nordenham smelter have enabled industrial and economic improvements in the lead segment,' explains Recylex's chairman and ceo Yves Roche.

'The solid volume growth helped to fully offset the substantial decline in lead prices during the first quarter of 2014 on the sales figures.' Recylex's plastics segment recorded 13% revenue growth to reach Euro 4.5 million, boosted by a 'strong top-line performance' which reflected, in particular, the addition of new customers.

The C2P-France subsidiary's new production line, which was installed during the first quarter, continued its 'ramping-up phase', the company adds.
