THE 8TH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM AND EXHIBITION ON THE REDEVELOPMENT OF MANUFACTURED GAS PLANT SITES (MGP 2019)
TALLAHASSEE, Florida (USA) -- The 8th International Symposium and Exhibition on the Redevelopment of Manufactured Gas Plant Sites (MGP 2019) will be held at The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA on June 2-4, 2019. Symposium organizers for MGP 2019 are the Center for Biomedical & Toxicological Research at Florida State University and the International Society of Technical & Environmental Professionals, Inc.
With the Symposium being held in the United States, the topics of most interest will deal with how best to meet the regulatory and risk reduction requirements for site closure. As more and more former MGP sites are earmarked for remediation, a number of site-specific regulatory, community-awareness and technology issues become critical to meeting closure deadlines.
Recognizing that site closure is progressing along in many states and countries, there are still many technological hurdles to overcome. Hundreds of sites, many of which are in urban environments, still remain to be addressed. MGP 2019, therefore, is being conducted to provide MGP site owners, site managers and community stakeholders with an opportunity to exchange experiences in closing sites and turning them into valuable community assets. The symposium will focus on successful redevelopment case studies, experience in applying innovative remediation technologies, interfaces with regulators, 3rd party involvement and community relations, and risk management issues. Special sessions are being considered that may deal with the multifaceted aspects of remediating a single site. Group panel discussions will be held with industry experts to sort out some of the more challenging issues facing responsible parties. The technical sessions will be closely integrated with an exhibition for technology vendors and innovators, environmental consultants and others providing goods and services to the MGP remediation industry.
