The Glass Packaging Institute announces board appointments following annual meeting
The Glass Packaging Institute (GPI) held its 2019 Annual Membership and Board meetings on October 31st in Chicago. Over three dozen members were in attendance to review and discuss critical supply chain and glass market issues.
GPI is pleased to announce that Bertrand Paulet, President & CEO of Ardagh Group, Glass – North America, was chosen as incoming Chairman of GPI’s Board of Trustees for 2020. Bertrand’s term as Chairman will begin January 1, 2020.
Along with Mr. Paulet’s elevation to Chairman of GPI’s Board of Trustees, Temeca Mitchell, Plant Manager of the Rocky Mountain Bottle Company (RMBC) facility in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, will take over the Trustee role on behalf of RMBC going into 2020. Temeca joins Miguel Alvarez (O-I), John Gallo (Gallo Glass Co.), Jim McClernon (Genesis Alkali) and Denis Suggs (Strategic Materials, Inc.) on the 2020 Board.
GPI members discussed aggressive goals for the organization’s 2020 strategic plan at the Chicago meeting, which was hosted by current GPI Board Chairman Richard Crawford representing RMBC and MillerCoors.
GPI will concentrate on supporting and expanding markets for glass containers in the food and beverage spaces, address critical issues in glass recovery and recycling, and growing its membership base. GPI’s membership drive includes efforts to attract brand companies using glass, a renewed effort to bring in smaller and non-domestic manufacturing companies serving North American markets and bolstering its supply chain partner network.
GPI has also moved its offices, remaining in Northern Virginia. The Glass Packaging Institute’s new address is 4250 North Fairfax Drive, Suite 600, Arlington, VA 22203.
