Fabian Loske, Consultant at thinkstep AG joined an inspiring event at the 18th annual conference of the German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE).
The focus of the event was the delivery of the report on the conducted Peer Review of the German Sustainability Strategy. Chancellor Merkel received the review document from the Peer Group Chair Helen Clark, former PM of New Zealand and Administrator of the UNDP.
In parallel sessions the topics of sustainable finance, the role of science in sustainability and the Peer Review itself were open for discussion. Not only in direct conversations with the peers Adolfo Ayuso-Audry, Namhla Mniki-Mangaliso and Helen Clark, Fabian Loske, Consultant thinkstep AG was able to exchange on the strategic application of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but also in a lively panel discussion he challenged the Peer Group with the question “How would you convince businesses to give up on part of their profit to invest in sustainable action?”
Several of the peers reacted to the question, stating that:
- It is the right thing to do
- It has to be done, because public and society asks for it
- It pays of business wise
At thinkstep we help businesses to succeed sustainably in that way, by making sustainability measures not only responsible actions towards society and the environment, but also to pay of business wise.
