Version 5 of IMMISem/air, the model for road traffic emissions and air quality screening, now features an English user interface. Emission calculation is based on and in accordance with the current European Handbook for Emission factors (HBEFA 3.1). Major adjustments where necessary in IMMISem in order to reflect the new concept for the traffic situations. A model for calculating levels of service (LOS) has been implemented to replaces the old Stop&Go-model. Due to the new traffic situation scheme, the emission factors for PM10 and PM2.5 also had to be revised.
Additionally, IMMISair was extended by new methods to determine NO2 annual mean values with two new approaches, taking into account the direct NO2 emissions and a simplified photochemistry.
During the afternoon of Saturday 15th July, a fire was reported at the Albion Hotel, on Brighton’s seafront. This was no small incident: three days later, around Tuesday lunchtime, there were still pockets of fire smouldering and, sadly, part of the building was left as little more than a shell.
With concern for the health and safety of the surrounding areas of the city, residents and businesses were advised to keep windows closed to keep indoor levels of dangerous particulates as low as possible. Luckily...
CERC has developed a digital air pollution impact tool to model the impacts of changes to air pollution sources and the adoption of mitigation measures, on levels of air pollution exposure. The tool is potentially scalable to all London local authorities, and could be a `ground-breaking` example for city authorities around the world, as are CERC`s Breathe London and airTEXT services.
This is a joint commission by Impact on Urban Health (IoUH) and Southwark and Lambeth Councils, who have a shared ambition to...
