Employees of water-related companies and their friends turned out in all their finery for the Water Ball to raise money for WaterAid. The event, held at the Albright Hussey Hotel, was a great success, raising over £4,000 for the charity.
It was a night destined for success. The Albright Hussey Hotel provided the perfect venue with black swans majestically patrolling the moat that surrounds it. The Ball, sponsored by ESI, Entec, WMC, Waterra and Enviros, began with a champagne reception on the exquisite lawns and then moved inside for the banquet.
Following a three course dinner, ball-goers were entertained with a raffle, casino, live band and disco. The raffle prizes matched the extravagance of the evening with a weekend in the Lake District, Wine tasting for 6 people at Williams McKenna Wines and an A La Carte meal for two at Clays. Success at the blackjack or roulette table also had its advantages with prizes donated by Enterprise Rent-a-car, Tanners Wines and Entec.
The event raised £4000 for WaterAid and will go towards providing clean, safe water and sanitation to people in developing countries. WaterAid is an international charity that works to help some of the poorest communities in Africa and Asia provide themselves with a better quality of life through water, sanitation and hygiene education projects. The charity, established in 1981, now helps over 500,000 people every year and also seeks to influence water and sanitation policies at a wider, global scale.
Organisers of the Water Ball (who are employees of various water-related companies based in Shropshire) were thrilled with the results. Grace Chillingworth of ESI commented, "We'd like to thank all those who supported the Water Ball, both in the run up to the event, and by being there on the night itself. It was a very successful evening with plenty of drinks, dinner and dancing and, thanks to people's generosity, it ultimately raised even more money than anticipated for Water Aid". Special thanks also go to Inovar Event Management for all their invaluable help in organising the event. For more information please see www.thewaterball.co.uk.
